Amazon’s annual Prime Day sale has arrived, and with it an onslaught of deals (and “deals”) on tech, beauty products, mattresses and pillows, and all sorts of other things, from excellent gifts to boring-but-necessary household essentials. But for today and tomorrow, July 16 and 17, I’m concentrating on the best Prime Day deals on toys and gear for babies and kids. Whether you are a new parent looking for big-ticket items like high chairs and travel cribs, or the parent of an older kid who needs a new backpack and always wants more LEGOs, I’ve found lots of great sales you’ll want to check out.
Since not every discount is worth your attention, I’ve limited the list below to only the very best deals I’ve found on products that make being a parent easier and being a kid more fun. Almost every product I’ve included is at least 20 percent off (though a lot of the deals are even better), and I’ve organized the list by age group. Many of the items below are things that I own or have personally tested; most everything else is something we’ve written about before, as recommended by cool parents, educators, and kids themselves, or comes from a brand we trust.
I’ll be updating this post with new baby and kids deals all throughout Prime Day. You can also stay up to date on all of our sales coverage, Prime Day or otherwise, by signing up for our newsletter.
This is a great deal on the travel version of one of our favorite baby monitors. It comes with its own case and a 3-in-1 sound machine, night light, and audio monitor.
Strategist senior editor Winnie Yang is on her second Osprey Poco Plus carrier (she regrets giving away the first one) and recommends it to any families who love the outdoors.
Strategist contributor Sara Gaynes Levy tested nine wearable breast pumps and named the Willow Go her favorite. (The brand’s other wearable pump, the Willow 360, also happens to be my favorite for traveling.) This deal is for a single pump, but you can also get the double set for 14 percent off.
I love our Lalo high chair for how comfortable it is, how easy it is to carry one-handed from room to room, and because it transforms into a play chair.
This little toy piano has been a top seller among Strategist parents for over three years. My own son got one for his 1st birthday and still loves playing with it six months later.
Baby Stella is an adorable soft baby doll that comes with removable clothing and a Velcro pacifier and is available in a range of diverse skin tones and hair types.
In addition to Lovevery’s toy-subscription toy boxes, the brand makes themed sets like this 70-piece block set that transforms into a pull car. It’s a very good deal at 29 percent off.
I recently switched to using all Mustela bath and body products for my son. I love the quality, but they aren’t cheap, so I’ll be stocking up during Prime Day.
A tugproof two-pack for babies and toddlers who like to rip their bibs off.
At this price, I’d buy one of these stress-reducing electric nail files for each of my friends with a baby.
This reusable swim diaper is made with OEKO-TEX 100 certified and UPF-50 protective fabric.
Not only is it 20 percent off, this Pack ‘n Play from Graco is sturdy enough to use as your main at-home crib.
The Chicco KeyFit car seat is a Strategist favorite, and today’s price is almost the cheapest we’ve ever seen.
Chicco’s GoFit backless booster seat is a top pick from our guide to the best booster seats.
And if you need a travel booster seat or an extra to accommodate friends this summer, this is a great deal on a Strategist favorite.
Prime Day is always an incredible time to buy Magna-Tiles. Here are my two favorite deals from the brand this year.
Applying sunscreen to a squirmy toddler is the worst. This one, from our guide to the best reef-safe sunscreens, makes it a little easier.
Outdoor playhouses are grails to toddlers. This one is more than 30 percent off.
Crayola’s mess-free Color Wonder products — the markers only work on the corresponding paper — have saved my walls and made my son very happy. This Bluey-themed kit will prevent you from yelling “Oh, biscuits!” at the site of a scrawled-on couch cushion.
Kiddo glam from a brand that will replace your pair for free if they are lost or broken within one year of buying them.
If you’ve got a Spidey superfan at home, this bouncy house is a good buy-now-save-for-Christmas purchase.
Or, for kids who prefer climbing to bouncing, this wooden jungle gym is a very good deal.
An excellent indoor activity for heat-wave days. (It also makes a great gift.)
Restock your water balloon arsenal for cheap.
An on-sale American Girl doll for kids who aren’t all that interested in history.
Give them a new way to squish, courtesy of this Squishmallows slime kit.
LEGO experts will appreciate this advanced-level building set. But if the medieval theme isn’t their thing, there’s also a very cool tree-house set on sale for 30 percent off.
Very few tweens (and even adults) will be able to resist Hello Kitty stationery.
I cherished my Caboodle as a tween and used it as my toiletry kit for summer camp. But the throwback cases are equally good for art supplies and other small treasures.
